What road trips are all about...

Long story short Harry and I headed to Phoenix after a nice visit with Kate in San Diego. The bug decided to over heat on the border of Mexico in el centro, California at about 12:00pm. After a trip to the local mechanic, 2 trips to the auto store, countless phone calls to Harry's Dad and a mechanic friend back home, 5 hours of Harry fixing everything he can, 3 times getting back on the road thinking the car was fixed but after about 10 miles figuring out it was not fixed and heading back to el centro, eventually the bug not even going 2 miles before way over heating, 1 aaa call, 60 mile tow, 10:30 pm finally getting to yuma,1 night in yuma, AZ, and a trip to the u-haul. We are finally back on the road to Phoenix! Where we will meet up with cousin Seth and take the bug to a VW dealership. Yay!!

Loving Fall Break

It is fall break this week and I am loving every minute. I had sleep in till 9 on my fall break to do list, I definitely checked that off the list this morning... it was heavenly. Monday night I went up to the cabin with my dad we drove to Heber and had dinner at a fun little old breakfast cafe called The Hub. On Tuesday we had a HUGE pile of chopped up cedar and pine wood dropped off. We carried it down the stairs and made pretty piles with it. I tell you what, we are ready for winter! Yesterday I went to lunch and a little shopping with my newlywed best friend Ali it's so fun to be old married ladies together :) Tonight I think Harry and I and some friends are going to the movie Social Network which is another thing i can check off of my Fall break to do list! I reallllly don't want Monday to come....

Perfect day on the lake

My family and I went boating at Utah lake today. It was the perfect day! Perfect temperature, Perfect water, Perfect water temperature, and we practically had the whole lake to our selves. We all went wake surfing, wake boarding and got nice tans/sunburns.

My Bestest Friend Ali came home Tuesday from the New Jersey, Cherry Hill Mission. I got to go to lunch and and hang out with her all day! It was so much fun! It's always nice to have your best friend around again. =)

Harry Proposed!

Yes yes it finally happened... Harry popped the question last weekend on Saturday March 20th. He knew he wanted to to do it that weekend he just didn't know how, when or where... he just figured he'd play it by ear. Harry's really good at just wingin things so that's just what he did. So the story goes like this... we were headed back to Cedar city from his cousins wedding in St. George. I was driving the big King Ranch truck because of Harry's broken foot. Harry saw the exit for a scenic detour up Kolob canyon and thought this will be good. So asks if i want to go for a drive and I'm always up for a scenic drive so I said sure... so we drove all the way up looked at the pretty views and headed back down the canyon. On the way down harry said I should pull over so we can take some pics so I did. We got out of the truck I sat on the back tailgate while harry scootered around on his little scooter for his foot. He then asked me to take his pulse and boy was it HIGH! I was like yeah... your pulse is pretty high maybe it's because you were scootering around... I don't know... and Harry (while "kneeling" on the scooter) then pulled out a seashell from his pocket with a ring it and said "It's because I want to ask you to be my wife" And naturally I screamed in happiness then while flailing my hands and arms I knocked the ring and seashell right out of harry's hand (that was funny) so Harry scootered over and got the ring I said yes and he put the pretty ring on my finger! I told harry that Kolob canyon had quite the deep symbolism to it.... he thought about it for a minute and said "oh... yes... yes it does... I'm awesome." Then it even got better when I told harry that Three years ago on this day he took me out to lunch to the blue plate for helping him with math so technically that was our first date. So for not planning this and for just wingin it He did a fantastic Job. I love you Harry, I'm so excited to be your wife!

super successful ski day

Had a fabulous day skiing with my younger brother T.J. He was so much fun to ski with and helped me with my skiing skills. I have a bad habit of using the pizza/wedge to stop and turn so he helped me wth keeping my skis together and using my edeges. I had it down by my 3rd run which made for a very fun successful ski day. Thanks Teej!!!

Park City Weekend

Park City was awesome this last weekend! My whole family was able to come including my Dad which is a great blessing. We had many friends come up Friday night including Harry's parents that just stopped by for a few minutes to say hello so that was fun. All day Saturday we went skiing. This was the first time Harry and I had been skiing together and I'll be honest I was a little nervous knowing I was going to be slower than Harry but Harry was very patient and it ended up being really really fun! Saturday night we went to Alice in Wonderland. I wasn't expecting much from this movie but it turned out to be a great movie and I highly recomend it. We were even sitting on the front row, it was in 3D and we all still thoroughly enjoyed it even though our necks were sore after the movie. Sunday we went to the park city visitors ward after we relaxed, ate lots of food, took a Sunday nap, then went home. Twas a lovely weekend.

Give a day get a Disney day!

Disney is giving free day passes to people that sign up to volunteer for a day. It's called Give a day get a Disney Day. There are organizations that register for it and you can sign up with one. When your done with your service the organization you volunteered for will verify that you served, then poof you get a free Disney pass. Luckily for me Rocky Mountain Hospice, a company I've been volunteering for for almost 2 years, was registered and I had already done a few days of service in January so they just verified it and I got my free pass today! Woo hoo!! Now when to go is the question... hmmm

I am in Hawaii with the Smiths. Today we spent a few hours hanging out at the beach and snorkeling then we went to the Dole plantation where we saw lots of pineapples, rode on the Pineapple express train and ate some yummy Pineapple whip ( Pineapple ice cream) sooooo good!!! It's been a wonderful trip so far!!

When comparing the pros and cons of a live tree and a fake tree I know that the pros list for a fake tree is A LOT longer than the pros list for a live tree. My family though, feels that for us the small pros list for a real tree outweighs the long pro list for a fake tree. Mostly just because Picking out a real Christmas tree has been a fun and long tradition in my family. We go to a little tree lot called Cummings down 4500 south. They always have a nice warm fire to sit by and peanuts to eat. I know the daughter of the guy that owns it and Ever time I go I think he won't remember me but he always does...we were really late getting our tree this year and he even mentioned he was just thinking he hadn't seen us yet this year. It has been a great tradition that I hope will continue for a long time.

Since we decided not to travel this weekend we explored the city and hiked the volcano Pacaya. It was really neat(sorry no pics from that) Also since we stayed at the home this weekend I tracked down a church address that is literally a 10 min walk from where I am staying! I was so happy. So this morning I attended sacrament meeting and of course I didn't understand the speakers but that was ok. I really enjoyed singing the hymns in Spanish and just being there... it was a pretty big ward with about 100-150 members. Spoke with some missionaries from Canada, Oregon and Washington. It was wonderful.

1st weekend in Guatemala

Hey so I'm in Guatemala... it's great. All the girls are very nice. My roommate is from London her name is Phillippa and has already been here for 4 weeks so it's great to have her! Here are some pics of where I'm staying. There was a protest right outside our house today... so we couldn't go anywhere until 3:00ish. If you look hard in the 2nd picture you can see the guys protesting... nothing dangerous just really loud. The Garbage on the Street is the aftermath. It was orientation today and then all of us girls went on a walk to find the pharmacy, laundromat, the market, and ice cream. Twas wonderful. Tomorrow we start working so that will be fun. Me and another girl go to an orphanage called mamacarmas it will be an interesting and fun day. So yeah that's bout it. =)

Best way to catch a mouse

I have discovered that the classic victor mouse trap with a piece of cheese is the way to go when trapping mice. I have caught 3 mice in less than 12 hours and the last mouse I caught was with in 10 minutes of setting up the trap. I don't know if this just means we have A LOT of mice (which I know we do) or if it means this is the best way to catch them, it's probably a mixture of both. I am just so happy to have found a solution to our mice issue.

Wicked Celebration

For an end of Tax Season Celebration My mom, TJ and I went to a wonderful sushi dinner then my mom and I went to Wicked! My mom and I have been wanting to see wicked since it first came out but have never had the chance to fly somewhere to see it. So When my mom heard it was coming to Salt Lake City She bought season tickets for broadway across america just so we could get the Wicked tickets and it was totally worth it!

Happy Easter!

This Easter was very different than usual. Ya see... Oma is enjoying her retired life to the fullest and is on a Caribbean cruise so we did not have the usual Schreyer family Easter leg of lamb with mint sauce dinner. It was just my Dad, my sister, my little brother and me. We ended up having what I would call an Alaskan hunter version of rodizo grill. My dad Cooked a little bit of Halibut, Salmon, Shark, black tail deer, and Moose. It was great.... and totally like my dad to do that. We also had to have the traditional boiled eggs for easter. I was so happy I was able to use my cute Egg set I bought in Germany. It's complete with an egg holder, an egg spoon and a personal salt shaker. We also had the wonderful Germanian Egg Killer that helped crack those eggs open. It was Great! Oh and the cute German chocolate Lindt Gold bunnies added a great touch to the table. We had a great dinner and talked for hours. This will definitely be one of my most memorable Easter sundays =)

What a Great Spring Break

For spring break Harry and I jumped over to Germany for a week. We have always talked about and have always wanted to go Visit our German friend Tim Dibus and just a few weeks before spring break we found some cheap airfare that we couldn't pass up. We did a few touristy stuff... like visit Heidelberg and the castle there. We went to Frankfurt city and just walked around really. We also went to the Temple there... it was lovely. We had a lot of fun getting to know Tim's family and friends. Some spoke english really well some not so much. I'm just impressed that they all can speak a little english... me myself can't have a conversation in any other language. So I'm always impressed when people are multilingual. Tim's mother fed us VERY well while we were there. Serving us homemade lasagna the first night, wild bore the next and prime rib the next also a fun cheese dinner I can't remember the name of it but it was good. Also very morning we had a variety of cheeses, breads, meats, and spreads along with a hard boiled egg. It was delicious. The Dibus family was WAY too good to us. We had such a wonderful time. Valentines surprise!

So because I am in Park City and Harry is in Afton, WY this weekend I didn't really expect much for Valentines. But last night there was a knock on the cabin door and when my dad made me come to the door to answer it I was like uh what is this. When I opened the door it was Justin with flowers and a present from Harry! What a wonderful surprise! Thanks Harry for the surprise and thanks to justin for drivin all the way up here. You guys are too sweet.

So here we are again up at the wonderful Edelweis Chalet. We had a GREAT day skiing on fresh powder. I like skiing but I have to tell ya the best part about skiing is coming back to the cabin, eating a bowl of warm chili, taking a 30 min hot shower, putting on some sweats and sittin in front of the fire. Ah... I'm so glad the month went by fast I missed this. <3 Happy Valentines All! :)

Another Fun relaxing weekend up In Park City. The party included Dad and Stephanie, Stephanie's two girls Emily and Aubry, Her son Spencer and his Girlfriend Lindsey, My cousin sean, our friends Derek and Patrick, and abby and her date Jake. We played LOTs of games including apples to apples, hearts, nerts, ticket to ride, etc... we also watched a lot of movies, Ate A LOT of food thanks to the chef my dad works with aka the former chef of the king and queen of Sweden. We saw a few not so famous people down on main street at the sundance party. And last but not least we got some sweet skiing in!

Last night I went to dinner with some friends that I haven't seen for a couple years. This is what we called our "9th grade group" I guess because the other girls started hangin out with us then... I dunno... but The boys I've known since before kindergarten we all grew up in the same ward and they all practically lived at my house every summer just playin with Alex.( I do have to mention Tyler, Alex, and Matt are still missing we'll have to catch up with them in a year or so... =) )It sure was fun catching up with everyone. It's weird how much has changed but then it's even weirder how much HASN'T changed. :)

Minesweeper queen

Ok so when there's down time at work I usually study but when I get sick of that I just play computer games... well i've always like to play minesweeper but I've never really known how to play it... that is untill a guy at work taught me how. This guy could win the game in 58 seconds which I thought was quite impressive so I knew I had to beat that score... by the end of the day I had won in 48 secods I was very proud... the next day though he informed me he did it in 40 seconds... grrr... so I took on the challenge... and got my time all the way down to 39 seconds then 28 seconds then 23 seconds he couldn't believe it and is still trying to beat that time... I haven't told him yet my new time of 15 seconds... dun dun dun

Ok... So it looks bigger in person... but believe me... it's pretty big. I'm not really complaining because who complains about a bigger screen... its just funny cuz now everyone that walks behind my desk can totally see EVERY thing that I'm doing... I mean it's not like I ever do anything particularly interesting or anything I'm not supposed to ( besides blog on the job of course) it's just I don't like the feeling of people lookin over my shoulder every time they walk down the hall just to check out how well my game of minesweeper is going. It just feels weird but oh well... :)

Grandma Hill

My Grandma Hill is one of my favorite people. With out her I would have no Idea where middle C is on a piano. One of My favorite things to do with my grandma is show her technology stuff. She thinks it's so amazing! So I decided to show her that you can take Pictures with a computer. So I opened up photo booth on my mac getting read to take a picture of us... she just looked at the screen and asked... "oh wow when was that picture taken, who am I with and where was it taken?" I said to her "grandma thats us right now on the couch now smile for the picture!" She couldn't believe it! So then I thought I'd really shock her and take a video! :)

a bugs life

When I walked out to my car the other day I had a cute little green bug waiting for me on the mirror. Usually I see these bugs near some plants so I'm not sure what he was doing in the middle of the Rice Eccles parking lot. Anyway I didn't know where to put him so I thought I'd see if he would just fly away once I started to drive... but to my surprise he was a strong little bugger and hung on that mirror with all it's strength. By the time I got to 700 east I was feeling bad for him so I brought my little friend into the car also I would have felt a little guilty had he fallin off and been smooshed by a car. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with him once I got to work... but when I got there I saw a perfect little area of plants and set him free into the wild. I felt good about that.

I really don't mind going to the dentist but usually I'm not going for my self. I took my Brother Al to get his wisdom teeth out, I took harry to get I don't know what done on his teeth, I took my mom to get an abscess taken care of and I took Teej just this last week to get his wisdom teeth out...is it weird that I kind of enjoy this? I had lovely pictures of all of them but I could only find TJ and harry's :)
